How to replace the screen in a Dell Inspiron 14z  Step one  Before doing anything else, remove the battery from your machine and unplug it from the mains power. You should also make sure that you have disconnected any, (and all,) peripheral devices, (eg. memory sticks/speakers.) Next, use your fingers or a flat edged implement, (a razor or a debit card, for example,) to prise the front bezel away from the rest of the screen casing. Work your way around each edge of the bezel, separating it fro the display. Note: you should find that the front bezel clicks in and out of place. Remember to take care when removing the front bezel, so as to avoid snapping it in the process. Once you've removed the front bezel, you should see the broken Dell Inspiron 14z screen sitting in a metal holding frame. Locate, (and remove,) the screws holding the screen in place, (there should be four in total.) Step two  Once you've done that, work the broken screen out of its holding frame and, pull it towards you, laying it to rest, face down on the laptop keyboard. At the back of the screen, (at the bottom,) you should see a thick cable attached to a golden connector. Disconnect this cable, (peeling back any strips of adhesive if necessary.) Once you've disconnected this cable, you should be able to remove the broken Dell Inspiron 14z screen from your laptop.
