What can I do about a broken eMachines screen?
Laptop screens are extremely fragile and are often damaged by minor accidents. We understand how frustrating a broken eMachines screen can be but, contrary to popular belief, laptop screen replacement is far easier than you might think. Below, you’ll find detailed instructions which will guide you through the screen replacement process.
Replacing an eMachines screen
First, before doing anything else, ensure that your eMachines machine is unplugged from the mains power and, that you have removed the battery. You should also make sure that you have unplugged any peripheral devices, (such as speakers and external drives.) Once you have completed all of these steps, you are ready to begin.
Next, locate the screws holding the bezels, (the plastics around the broken eMachines laptop screen,) in place. These screws are often hidden underneath plastic covers, so you’ll have to locate, (and remove,) these first. Once you have removed all of the screws holding the front bezel in place, gently remove the surrounding plastics from your machine, taking care not to snap it.
Having removed the surrounding plastics, (or the front bezel,) you should see the broken eMachines laptop screen held in a metal frame by another set of screws. Carefully remove all of these screws and then set them aside. Gently pull the damaged screen towards you, (proceeding with care so as to avoid injury.) On the back of the screen, (at the top,) you should find two cables: disconnect them both. You should now be in a position to completely remove the old screen from your machine.
Once you’ve removed the broken eMachines screen, fit the replacement screen by re-connecting the two cables referred to in the previous step to the back, fixing it into the metal holding frame and securing it in place using the screws you removed earlier. To complete the repair, perform the steps described above in reverse, (for example, re-attach the front bezel, etc.)
