Replacing a Sony Vaio SVE series screen

Tough technical repairs often seem daunting and difficult, laptop screen replacement, contrary to popular belief, requires very little technical expertise. In fact, some of our customers have managed to fit their replacement screens in just half an hour! Below, you'll find detailed, step by step instructions that will help guide you through the Sony Vaio SVE series screen replacement process.

How to replace a Sony Vaio SVE series screen

Step one

Before beginning your repair, unplug your laptop and remove the battery. You should also ensure that you have disconnected any, (and all,) external devices, (such as speakers, memory sticks and/or hard drives.) Once you ave done that, you'll need to remove the front bezel, (the plastics surrounding the damaged SVE series screen.)To do this, you'll need to remove the aesthetic covers, (located at each corner,) that have been used to disguise the four screws holding the front bezel in place. Once you have removed these aesthetic covers, use a small screwdriver to remove the screws beneath them.

Step two

Once you have removed all of the screws and set them aside safely, you  should be able to remove the front bezel that surrounds the damaged display. Note: remember to take care when easing the front bezel off so as to prevent it snapping or breaking. Once you have removed the front bezel, you should see four screws, (two at the top of the damaged display and two at the bottom,) holding the screen in place. Remove these screws and set them aside safely.

Step three

Once you have removed all of the screws holding the broken Sony Vaio SVE series screen in stock, gently pull the display towards you; laying it, face down, on the keyboard. Note: you may find it difficult to pull the screen towards you as it attached to various cables, (and the rest of the screen casing,) by strong adhesive. At the bottom of the screen, you should see a gold connectors. Disconnect it. You should now be able to remove the broken Sony Vaio SVE screen form the body of the machine. To fit your newly bought replacement screen, all you need to do is complete the above instructions in reverse.
