Can I Replace my Dell Inspiron 910 Screen?

Replacing the screen in a Dell Inspiron 910

We understand how frustrating it can be when you break your laptop screen. Though the task may seem daunting at first, however, laptop screen replacement requires very little technical expertise. What's more, in replacing your laptop screen yourself, you could save valuable time and money. Below, you'll find detailed instructions, (as well as helpful resources,) to guide you through the Dell Inspiron 910 screen replacement process. 

How to replace a Dell Inspiron 910 screen 

Step one 

Before beginning your repair, make sure that you have unplugged you laptop from the mains power and, that you have removed the battery. You should also makes re that you have disconnected all peripheral devices, (eg. memory sticks, speakers and/or hard drives.) Next, use your fingers, a flat edged implement or an opening tool to prise the front bezel away from the rest of the screen casing. Work your way around each edge of the front bezel, separating it from the laptop. When you are convinced that you have loosened the front bezel sufficiently, remove it from your laptop and, set it aside safely. Once you've removed the front bezel you should see the broken Dell Inspiron 910 screen being held in place by two screws, (one in each corner; at the top.) Remove each of these screws and, set them aside safely. 

Step two 

Next, take hold of the top of the screen and, gently pull it towards you, laying it to rest, face down, on the keyboard in front. On the back of the screen, you should see a grey cable attached. Remove this cable, (peeling back any strips of adhesive, if necessary.) 

Step three

Pull the screen back towards you, (pushing the back of the laptop towards the table.) On either side of the broken screen, you should see two screws. Remove each of these screws, holding onto the screen to steady it. Once you've removed all of the screws, you should be able to remove the broken screen from the machine, To replace the old display with a newly bought Dell Inspiron 910 screen, all you need to do is complete the instructions, (as outlined above,) in reverse.
