Famous for their "Tough" ToughBook range of notebook computers, Panasonic are otherwise a little know manufacturer of laptops. The ToughBook range has had a reasonable success within the service industry and the laptops have also been used in various military applications. Panasonic pioneered a "no" fan system chassis with many models constructed of Titanium. The chassis would dissapate the heat evenly across a combined heat sink/chassis combination. This gave the units a silent operation and allowed for a slightly extended battery life. Large and rugged and with an aim to be lightweight, these are great laptops for the slightly clumbsier of us who need that little added insurance of robustness.
