Acer Aspire 5742z Screen Replacement

At the back of the screen, (at the top,) you should see a thin cable running towards the laptop web cam. Disconnect this cable. Pull the screen further toward you and lay it to rest on the laptop keyboard. On the back of the screen, you'll see a thick cable attached to a gold connector and, held in place using strips of tape or adhesive. Disconnect this cable.  Step five Lift the broken Acer Aspire 5742z screen free from the laptop. Once you've removed both of the aesthetic covers, remove the screws hidden underneath and, set them aside safely.  Step two  Next, use a flat edged implement or your fingers to gently prise the front bezel away from the rest of the screen casing. Work your way around each edge of the front bezel, prising it away from the screen casing. Note: take care when removing the front bezel as it is brittle and can be broken easily. When you are sure that you have loosened the font bezel sufficiently, rmeove it from the laptop and, set it aside safely. You should see the broken Acer Aspire 4830 screen held in place by four further screws, (one in each corner.) Remove these screws also, and, set them aside safely. Next, gently pull the top of the broken screen towards you, laying it to rest, face down, on the laptop keyboard. Step three  On the bottom, (and back,) of the screen, you should see a large cable attached. Disconnect this cable by freeing it from its golden connector. Once you've done that, pull the damaged display slightly towards you and, disconnect the top of the web camera cable.  Step three Next, pull the broken screen further towards you and lay it to rest, face down, on the keyboard in front. On the back of the screen, you should see along, thin cable attached. This is the rest of the web camera cable. Remove this cable from the back of the screen, loosening any adhesive, if necessary. At the bottom, (and back,) of the screen, you should also see a ribbon like cable attached to a golden connector. Disconnect this cable by releasing it from the connector, (peeling back any strips of adhesive holding it in place, if necessary.)  Step four  You should now be able to remove the broken Acer Aspire One D255E screen from your laptop. To fit your newly bought replacement screen, all you need to do is complete the above instructions in reverse. I'm having problems with my Acer screen From time to time, you may find that the brightness on your Acer screen diminishes, making it difficult to see, or, that the manner in which the colours are displayed on the screen varies in strange ways. Below, you'll find solutions to these display related problems.  Solving common screen problems My screen's too bright/not as bright as it should be To adjust the brightness of your Acer screen, simultaneously hold down the Fn key and, either the left or right arrow keys, (found on the right-hand side of your keyboard.) If your Acer screen is too dark, and you’re finding it difficult to work, press the Fn key and the arrow key on the right to make the display lighter. Alternatively, if your Acer screen is too bright, hold down the Fn key and the left hand arrow key to take the edge off of the brightness.
