Proceed by disconnecting the two thin cables located on the bottom of the machine, (the antenna cables.)  Step three Remove the screws attached to the hinges of the laptop.  Step four  Having removed the screws on the hinges turn the laptop over and unscrew the laptop keyboard. (You should find two screws in the top corners of the keyboard.) Use your fingers or a flat edged implement, (a razor or debit card,) to ease the keyboard from the machine. Underneath the keyboard, you should see a ribbon like cable attached, Disconnect this cable.  Step five  Next, locate and rmeove the screws holding the hinge covers, (used to disguise the hinges on the inside of the laptop,) In place, Once you've removed the screws holding the covers in place, remove the covers also and, set them aside safely. Proceed  by removing the screws, (and disconnecting the cables,) attached to the plastics underneath the laptop keyboard. When you have removed, (and safely set aside,) all of these screws and cables, carefully work the palm-rest plastics away from the laptop.  Having removed these plastics you should see several further screws that you'll need to remove, (as well as a further cable that you'll need to detach.)  Step six  Next, locate and remove the screws used to hold the laptop hinge sin place, You should now be able to remove the broken Dell Latitude E5440 screen, (and the front bezel,) away from the body of the laptop. Use your fingers or a flat edged implement, (a razor or guitar plectrum,) to ease the front bezel away from the broken screen. Remember to take care when prising off the front bezel, so as to avoid snapping it in the process. When you are sure that you have sufficiently loosened the front bezel, remove it from the broken display and, safely set it aside. Having removed the front bezel you should see the broken screen being held in place by four further screws, (one in each corners,) Remove each of these screws and, set them aside. You should now be able to life the broken screen free from the rest of the screen casing. On the back of the broken Dell Latitude E5440 screen, you should see a cable attached to a gold connector.
