Sharp investing 150 million USD for new IGZO technology displays
Though reports abound concerning deep fiscal loses, Sharp seems set to invest 150 million USD in the production of the new, IGZO screen technology widely believed to be favoured by their competitor, Apple. Sharp maintains that these cutting-edge screens will cut the consumption of power by 90%, thus enhancing the battery life of those electronic devices whose resources are drained considerably by inefficient displays.

As a company, Sharp hopes investment in new technologies will renew its overall profitability. Despite markedly increased investments, however, the company forecasts that their increased spending, both in new technology and the restructuring of business, will greatly inflate their loses in the next fiscal year.
