What can I do about a broken Macbook screen?
Laptop screens are extremely fragile and, they are often broken by the slightest accident. A broken Macbook screen need not be a cause for concern, however. Though not the easiest of tasks, laptop screen replacement is much easier than you might think. Below, you’ll find detailed, step by step instructions, (and further advice,) on how to replace your damaged Macbook screen.

Replacing a broken Macbook screen
Step one
Firstly, before beginning your repair, ensure that you have removed your Macbook’s battery. Next, unplug your machine from the mains power and, unplug any other device, (speakers, etc,) connected to it. Next, going corner to corner, (starting at the bottom right,) gently remove the screen cover, loosening each corner until it pops free.
Step two
Remove the screws that hold the hinge in place at the bottom of the screen. Once you have removed the hinge, set it aside safely. Proceed by removing all of the screws that are holding the broken Macbook screen in place. Make sure you have removed all of the screws, (and have set them aside safely,) before continuing. Once you have done this, remove the screws underneath the Wifi antenna.
Step three
You should now be in a position to pull the broken Macbook screen towards you. Take care, however, as it’s still connected to a number of cables. At the top of the screen, at the back, you should find a ribbon like cable, (perhaps attached with a piece of tape.) Disconnect this cable from the back of the old screen. Towards the bottom of the screen, you should see the inverter cable. Disconnect this from the broken Macbook screen also. You should now be in a position to remove the damaged Macbook screen from your machine.
Step four
Fit your newly bought Macbook screen in place by re-inserting the screws you removed earlier and by completing the above instructions in reverse.
