Is it Difficult to Replace a HP Pavilion DV6000 Screen?

Replacing a HP Pavilion DV6000 screen

We understand how frustrating it can be when you break the screen on your HP Pavilion DV6000. Contrary to popular belief, however, laptop screen replacement requires very little technical expertise. In fact, some of our customers have managed to replace their screens in just half an hour! Below, you'll find detailed, step by step instructions that will help guide you through the HP Pavilion DV6000 screen replacement process.

How to replace a HP Pavilion DV6000 screen

Step one

Before beginning your repair, switch your laptop off, unplug it from the mains power and remove the battery. You should also make sure that you have disconnected any, (and all,) peripheral devices, (such as speakers, memory sticks and/or hard drives.) Once you have done this, prise off the plastic screws covers on the front bezel, (the plastics surrounding your damaged HP Pavilion DV6000 screen.) Once you have located and removed all of the screw covers, (and set them aside safely,) use a Philips screwdriver to remove all of the screws holding the front bezel in place.

Step two

Once you have removed all of the screws holding the front bezel in place, gently remove the surrounding plastics from your machine, (taking care to release the plastic buttons on either side of the screen casing.)

Step three

Once you have removed the bezel and set is aside safely, you should see a number of screws located at the bottom of the exposed screen. Unscrew these and set them aside. You should also remove the screws at the top of the damaged screen and, at the side, (taking care to hold the top of the display so that it doesn't fall.) Once you have removed all of the screws holding the damaged HP Pavilion DV6000 screen in place, gently pull the screen towards you, laying it down on the keyboard. At the back, (and top,) of the screen, you should see a ribbon like cable. Disconnect this cable, (by peeling back the tape or adhesive holding it in place.)

Step four

You should now be able to remove the damaged HP Pavilion DV6000 screen from your machine. To fit your newly bought replacement, all you need to do is complete the above instructions in reverse. It's really that simple!
