Replacing the screen in a Dell XPS M1530
A broken Dell XPS M1530 screen can be a source of great frustration. However, contrary to popular belief, laptop screen replacement requires very little technical expertise. In replacing your laptop screen yourself, you could also save time and money. Below, you'll find step by step instructions that will help guide you through the laptop screen replacement process.
How to replace a Dell XPS M1530 screen
Step one
Before beginning your repair, make sure that you have removed the batter form your laptop. You should also ensure a.) that your laptop is unplugged from any, (and all,) power sources and, b.) that you have disconnected all peripheral devices, (eg. memory sticks.) When you are ready to begin, use a flat edged implement or your fingers to firmly, (but gently,) prise the front bezel away from the rest of the screen casing. Work your way around the edges of the front bezel, separating it from the screen casing as you go. Once you are convinced that you have loosened the front bezel sufficiently, remove the front bezel from the machine.

Step two
Having exposed the broken Dell XPS M1530 screen, you should see a number of screws, (6, in total,) holding it in place. Remove all of these screws and set them aside safely. Then, take hold of the top of the damaged display and, gently pull it towards you. Attached to the back of the screen, you should see a large, ribbon-like cable, (the VGA cable.) Disconnect this cable.

At the very bottom of the screen, you should see a number of smaller cables. This is the inverter board. Proceed by disconnecting the cable that runs into the inverter board.
Step three
You should now be in a position to remove the broken Dell XPS M1530 screen from your machine. To fit your newly bought replacement screen, simply complete the above instructions in reverse. Note: you'll need to reuse the metal frame, (or the mounting brackets,) that held the old screen in place.
