How to Replace a Toshiba Satellite Screen

What can I do about a broken Toshiba Satellite screen?

Often, when a piece of technology breaks, we feel compelled to buy an entirely new replacement. But, did you know that you can save valuable time and money by replacing your Toshiba Satellite screen yourself? Contrary to popular belief, laptop screen replacement requires very little technical expertise. Below you’ll find detailed instructions on how to replace your damaged Toshiba Satellite screen.

How to replace a damaged Toshiba Satellite screen

Step one

Firstly, before doing anything else, ensure that you have removed your laptop’s battery and, that you have unplugged your machine from the mains power. You should also make sure that you have disconnected any external devices, (such as speakers, drives, and/or iPods.) Next, unscrew the screws holding the screen cover in place, (note: these screws are often hidden by plastic covers which will need to be carefully removed first.) Then, gently ease off the screen cover and the bezel surrounding your broken Toshiba Satellite screen.

Step two

You should now be in a position to gain access to the screen inverter, (the green board found near the bottom of the screen.) Unplug the cable that runs from the damaged screen to the inverter boards. Next, remove, (and safely set aside,) the screws holding the broken Toshiba Satellite screen in the metal holding frame. When you are sure you have removed all of the screws, gently pull the screen towards you. At the back, (and top,) of the screen, you should find a ribbon like cable. Disconnect this cable, (removing the piece of tape holding it in place, if need be.)

Step three

Next, unscrew the remaining screws holding the broken screen in place. You should now be in a position to remove the damged screen from the body of the machine. To fit your newly bought Toshiba Satellite screen, simply perform the above instructions in reverse. Congratulations, you have successfully replaced your Toshiba Satellite laptop screen!
