Replacing a Dell Latitude D620 screen
We understand how frustrating it can be when you break your Dell Latitude D620 screen. A broken laptop screen need not be a cause for concern, however. Laptop screen replacement is much easier than you might think and, in completing the repair yourself, you could save valuable time and money. Below, we help guide you through the Dell Latitude D620 screen replacement process.
How to replace a Dell Latitude D620 screen
Step one
Firstly, before beginning your repair, turn off your laptop, remove the battery and disconnect any, (and all,) peripheral devices, (such as speakers and memory sticks.) Next, use a plastic opening tool or a flat-edged implement, (eg. a razor, debit card or guitar plectrum,) to prise the plastic screw covers off of the front bezel. Note: on the Dell Latitude, you should see six of these aesthetic covers. Once you are sure that you have removed all of the covers and set them aside safely, remove the screws under each of them and set them aside safely also.
Step two
Once you are sure that you have removed all of the screws gently, (but firmly,) prise there front bezel away from the damaged Dell Latitude D620 screen. Take care when completing this step as the front bezel is quite brittle and is often easily broken.
Step three
Once you've exposed the broken screen, you should see six further screws holding it in a metal holding frame. Remove these screws also and, set them aside safely. Once you have removed all of the screws holding the broken screen in the metal holding frame, gently hold onto the top of the display and lay it, face down, on the keyboard in front. On the back of the screen, you should see the video cable, (a large cable with two connectors; one running to the inverter and the other connected to the screen itself.) You'll need to disconnect both of the connectors before you can remove the damaged Dell Latitude D620 screen from the machine.

Step four
Remove the Dell Latitude D620 screen from your machine. To fit your newly bought replacement, just complete the above instructions in reverse. It's really that simple!
