How to Replace an Acer Screen

What’s the cure for a broken Acer LCD screen?

LCD screens are made from liquid crystal which is encased between two plates of glass. As with all laptop screens, LCD displays are often easily broken. You need not be daunted by the prospect of changing your broken Acer screen yourself, however: laptop screen replacement is surprisingly simple.

How to replace a broken Acer screen

Step one

Firstly, turn off your machine, unplug any cables and remove the battery. Next, remove the screws that are holding the broken Acer screen in the surrounding, plastic bezel. Once all screws have been removed, gently pull the screen free from the surrounding plastics.

Step two

After you have pulled the broken screen free from the surrounding bezel, disconnect the LCD video cable on the back. You should now be in a position to completely remove the damaged display from your machine. Next, connect the VGA cable to the back of your new screen, place the screen back in the surrounding plastics and, fix it in place using the screws you removed earlier. Once all the screws are in place, put your battery back in and reconnect any cables you disconnected at the start. Congratulations, you have succeeded in replacing your broken Acer screen!
