Replacing a HP Elitebook 8460p Screen

Can I replace my HP Elitebook 8460p screen?

We understand how deeply frustrating it can be when you break your laptop screen. Laptop screen replacement, contrary to popular belief, however, requires very little technical expertise. Armed with the correct knowledge and a high quality replacement, you should be able to replace your damaged HP Elitebook 8460p screen yourself. Below, you'll find step by step instructions to help guide you through the screen replacement process.

How to replace a HP Elitebook 8460p screen

Step one

Firstly, before beginning your repair, switch off your computer, remove the battery and unplug it from the main power. You'll also need to ensure that you have disconnected any (and all) peripheral devices, (such as speakers and memory sticks.) Next, use a flat edged implement or an opening tool to prise off the aesthetic covers on the bottom front of the bezel, (the plastics surrounding the damaged screen.) Once you have done that, remove the screws hidden underneath the plastic covers using a Philips screwdriver and, set them aside safely.

Step two

Next, firmly, (but gently,) prose the front bezel away from the screen casing, working your way around the screen until you are sure that you have loosened it sufficiently. Once you have removed the front bezel and set it aside safely, remove the screws holding the exposed HP Elitebook 8460p screen in place. Note: you should see six screws in total; 4 at the bottom and 2 at the top. Having done that, take hold of the damaged screen and sit it upright. Proceed by removing the ribbon like cable at the back of the screen and the screws holding it in the metal holding frame. Once you have done that, you should be able to pull the broken screen upwards and away from the body of the machine. To fit your newly bought replacement, all you need to do is complete the above instructions in reverse It's really that simple!
