Replacing an Acer Aspire 5520 screen
We understand how annoying it can be when you break your Acer Aspire 5520 screen. Although daunting at first however, laptop screen replacement is far easier than you might think. Below we provide step by step instructions, (and extra resources,) to help guide you through the Acer Aspire 5520 screen replacement process.
How to replace an Acer Aspire 5520 screen
Step one
Before you begin the replacement process, remove the battery from your laptop and, unplug the machine from the mains power. You should also make sure that you have removed any peripheral devices, (such as speakers and memory sticks.) Next, prise off the aesthetic covers, (located in each corner of the front bezel,) used to disguise screws. Once you have removed the aesthetic covers, remove the screws hidden underneath and, set them aside safely.
Step two
Next, firmly, (but gently,) prise the front bezel away from the screen casing, working our way around each side of the screen. Once you have loosened the front bezel sufficiently, separate it from the machine, (taking care to unhook it from the machine's hinges.)
Step three
At the bottom of the exposed Acer Aspire 5520 screen, you should see a thin board. This is the inverter board. Locate, (and remove,) all of the screws holding this board in place. Next, disconnect the cable running from the screen cable to the web camera. Once you've done that, hold onto the top of the broken Acer Aspire 5520 screen and pull it towards you, laying it, face down, on the keyboard in front. On the back of the damaged screen, you should see a thick, ribbon-like cable . Disconnect this cable. You should also see a thin cable connected to the right-had side of the inverter at the bottom of the screen.
Step four
Next, remove the screws found on both sides of the damaged screen. You should now be able to remove the broken Acer Aspire 5520 screen from the machine. To fit your newly bought replacement screen, simply perform the above instructions in reverse.
