Can I replace my Toshiba Tecra R850 screen?
We understand how annoying it can be when you break your Toshiba Tecra R850 screen. Contrary to popular belief, however, laptop screen replacement requires very little technical expertise. Replacing a Toshiba Tecra R850 screen
Step one
Before doing anything else, unplug your machine from the mains power and remove the battery. Next, unplug any, (and all,) peripheral devices, (such as speakers, memory sticks and/or hard drives.) Once you've done that, use a flat-edged implement or a plastic opening tool to prise off the plastic covers on the front bezel, (the plastics surrounding the damaged Toshiba Tecra R850 screen,) which have been used to disguise the front bezel screws. After locating and removing all of the aesthetic covers, remove the screws underneath and, set them aside safely, also.
Step two
Once you've removed all of the screws holding the front bezel in place, firmly, (but gently,) pull the front bezel away from the screen casing. Remember: the front bezel is brittle and can be snapped easily. Once you have removed the front bezel, you should see the broken Toshiba Tecra R850 screen sitting in a metal holding frame. You should see a number of screws at the bottom of the exposed screen, holding it in place. Remove these screws and, set them aside safely.
Step three
Take hold of the top of the Toshiba Tecra R850 screen and pull it towards you. Lay the damaged screen, face down, on the laptop keyboard. Connected to the back of the screen, you should see a large, ribbon-like cable. Remove this form the back of the screen, (peeling back adhesive, or ape, if necessary.) You should also see an inverter connected to the back of the screen. Disconnect this also. To fit your newly bought Toshiba Tecra R850 screen, all you need to do is complete the above instructions in reverse.
