Replacing a HP Envy TouchSmart 4-1115DX screen
If you've broken your HP Envy TouchSmart 4-1115DX screen, there's no need to worry, (or go to the expense of purchasing an entirely new machine.) Replacing a laptop screen is far easier than you might think! Take a moment to read the step by step instructions below.
How to replace a HP Envy TouchSmart 4-1115DX screen
Step one
Unplug any, (and all,) external devices attached to your laptop, (eg. speakers/memory sticks.) Next, turn off your laptop and remove the battery. Then, use your fingers or a flat edged tool, (a debit card or razor,) to prise the aesthetic covers, (located in the bottom corners of the front bezel,) away from the machine. Once you've removed these covers, unscrew the screws hidden underneath and, set them aside.
Step two
Use a flat edged tool, ( a debit card, guitar plectrum or razor,) to prise the back casing away from the broken screen. Carefully work your way around each edge of the back casing easing it away from the damaged display. Once you've successfully loosened each side of the back casing, lift it free from the laptop and, safely set it aside.
Step three
Close the laptop. Remove all eight of the screws attached to the back of the screen.
Step four
Disconnect the thin cable attached to the back of the screen. Next,disconnect the cable, (attached to a gold connector,) which sits on the upper edge of the folded screen.
Step five
Disconnect the wifi antennas by peeling back any strips of adhesive holding them in place.
Step six
Unscrew the screws,four in total, found on the laptop hinges. You'll also need to unscrew four further screws used to hold the hinge covers in place. Once you've done that, lift the hinge covers away from the laptop and set them aside safely. Use your fingers or a flat edged tool to lift up each of the laptop hinges, so that they stand erect. Next, disconnect the cable located at the top of the folded screen. Then, peel the plastic film at the bottom of the screen away from the laptop.
Step seven
Lift the circuit board hidden underneath the plastic film up and away from the back of the screen. Remember to take care when moving the circuit board.
Step eight
You should now be able to remove the broken screen. To fit your replacement HP Envy TouchSmart 4-1115DX screen, all you need to do is complete the bov instructions in reverse order.
