Replacing a HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14 Sleekbook screen
Though you may feel daunted by the prospect of replacing your laptop screen yourself, the entire process is far easier than you might think. How to replace a HP Pavilion Touchsmart 14 Sleekbook screen
Step one
Unplug your laptop form all, (and all,) power sources and, remove the battery, (by releasing it from the bottom of the machine.) Next, turn the laptop back around, (so that it stands upright,) and remove the aesthetic covers, (and the screws hidden underneath,) located in the bottom two corners of the front bezel.
Step two
Use a flat edged implement, (a debit card, razor or plectrum,) to work the front bezel away from the rest of the screen casing, Note: unlike non-touchscreen laptop, the HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14 bezel is held in place using rather strong adhesive. Remember to take note of this fact when completing your repair. Work your way around each side of the front bezel, firmly, (but gently,) detaching it from the laptop. If you're finding it difficult to remove the front bezel, use a hairdryer or a professional heat gun to soften the adhesive used to hold it in place. When you are quite sure that you have sufficiently loosened the front bezel, lift it free form the rest of the screen casing and set it aside safely.
Step three
Take hold of the top of the broken screen and, carefully pull it towards you, laying it to rest, face down, on the laptop keyboard.
Step four
On the back of the screen, (at the bottom,) you should see a thick cable attached to a golden connector. Disconnect this cable by peeling back any strips of adhesive holding it in place and, by releasing it from the gold connector.
Step five
Remove the broken screen from your laptop. To fit your replacement HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14 Sleekbook screen, simply follow the instructions, (outlined above,) in reverse order.
