Asus Transformer TF700 Touchscreen Replacement

Replacing an Asus Transformer TF700 touchscreen/digitizer

A broken Asus Transformer TF700 touchscreen need not be a cause for concern: armed with the correct tools, (and the correct knowledge,) you should be bale to fit a newly bought replacement touchscreen. The easy to follow instructions below will help guide you through the entire touchscreen replacement process.

How to replace an Asus Transformer TF700 touchscreen

Step one

Make sure that your device is switched off and, that you have unplugged \n\y, (an all,) external devices attached to it. It is also a good idea to make sure that all your data i backed up on an external drive or online. When you're ready to begin, use a flat edged tool, (a professional opening tool, debit card or razor,) to prise the back casing away from the damaged display. Work your way around each side of the tablet, easing the separate sides apart. Remember to insert flat edged tools in the gaps you create, (as you go,) to prevent the strong adhesive, (that holds the tablet together,) sticking anew.

Step two

Pull the top of the screen away from the body of the tablet. On the back of the screen, you should see a thick cable which runs form the screen to the body of the tablet. Disconnect this cable.

Step three

Safely set aside the back casing. Next, remove the screws, (four in total,) used to hold the LCD screen in place. You should also peel back and piece of tape or adhesive used to hold the screen in place. Having done that, use a flat edged implement to pry the LCD screen away from the touchscreen.

Step four

Ease the cable that runs from the touchscreen to the LCD screen away from the LCD screen.

Step five

Remove the LCD screen from your device and, safely set it aside. Next, place the broken touchscreen on a desk or table, (top facing upwards,) ad apply heat, (using a professional heat gun or hairdryer,) to each edge of the plastics surrounding the screen, (so as to loosen the adhesive holding it in place,) Remember to keep your hairdryer or heat gun moving continuously, to avoid subjecting your device to excessive spurts of heat. Next, use a number of flat edged implements, (as before,) to prise the casing away from the broken touchscreen. Work your way around each side of the touchscreen, easing off the plastic backing.

Step six

Remove the broken touchscreen from the device. Next, unpack your newly bought replacement Asus Transformer TF700 touchscreen. Turn the new touchscreen over, (with the back facing upwards,) and place the LCD screen in place. Reattach the thick, touchscreen cable and screw the LCD screen back in place. To finish your repair, all you need to do is perform the rest of the instructions, outlined above, in reverse order. That's all there is to it!
