How to Replace an iPad Air LCD Screen and Touchscreen

Replacing the LCD screen (and the touchscreen) in the iPad Air 

Though technical repairs can seem daunting, (and difficult, at first,) armed with the correct tools and easy to follow, step by step instructions, you should be able to successfully complete them.Below, you'll find simple, step by step guide instructions that will help guide you through the iPad Air LCD, (and touchscreen,) replacement process. 

iPad Air LCD, (and touchscreen,) replacement 

Step one 

Turn off your iPad and remve any external devices, (eg, speakers.) It is also a good idea to make sure that you have backed up any, (and all,) important data. When you're ready to begin, use a professional heat gun or a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive used to hold the iPad display in place. Remember not to apply heat, consistently, over long periods, to open part of the iPad display as, this may cause permanent damage. 

Step two 

Use a number of flat edged tools to prose the front display of the iPad away from the rest of the machine. Work your way around each edge of the front glass, easing the display away fro the device. As you work your way around each edge of the device, (working off the front display,) you'll need to insert flat edged tools in the gaps created to prevent the adhesive sticking the device together again. Note: if you're having trouble separating the display for the rest of the iPad, apply further heat to the adhesive using a heat gun or hairdryer. 

Step three 

Once you have successfully loosened the front display lift it up and lay it, face down, next to the device. You should now see the iPad Air screen.

Step four 

Remove the screws, (four in total; one in each corner,) holding the iPad Air screen in place. 

Step five 

Life up the iPad Air LCD screen and hold it in place. Remove the screws, (two in total,) used to hold the metal plate behind the broken screen in place. 

Step six

Disocnncet the cable that runs from the LCD screen to the body of the iPad. Then, lift the LCD screen away from the device.

Step seven 

If you only need to replace your iPad Air LCD screen, place your replacement screen in place and, complete your repair by performing the above instructions in reverse order.

Step nine 

To remove he broken touchscreen from your device, use a flat edged tool to lift up both of the touchscreen connector , (and the "Home" button cable.)

Step ten 

Lift the touchscreen free from the rest of the device, (removing any excess adhesive, if necessary.) To fit your replacement iPad Air touchscreen, simply complete the above instructions in reverse order. That's all there is to it!
