HP Chromebook 14 screen replacement
Step one
Before you begin your repair, there are a couple of things you need to do. Firstly, disconnect your laptop from the mains power and remove the battery. You should also make sure that you've disconnected any (and all) external devices, including headphones, memory sticks and smartphones. When you feel that you're ready to begin, remove the screw on the bottom right of the HP Chromebook bezel.
Step two
Ease the bezel, (the plastic used to frame the broken screen,) away from the body of your machine by using an opening tool or a thin edged implement such as a guitar plectrum. Take your time when separating the front bezel from the broken display as the bezel is brittle and is often easily cracked.
Step three
Once you have worked your way around each side of the plastic bezel, ease it away from the damaged display, lift it free from the screen and set it aside. Your broken panel should now be fully exposed. Proceed by removing the screws located in each corner.
Step four
Take hold of the top of the broken screen and pull it towards the laptop keyboard. On the back of the screen (towards the bottom) you should see a thick ribbon-like cable attached. Disconnect this cable and then remove the broken screen from the laptop. To fit your new display, simply complete the instructions, outlined above, in reverse order.
