Tools You’ll Need

  • Phillips #00 screwdriver

  • Plastic pry tool or guitar pick

  • Anti-static wrist strap (optional but recommended)

Step-by-Step Screen Replacement Guide

Step 1: Power Down and Remove External Connections

  1. Shut down your laptop completely.

  2. Unplug any external devices, including the charger.

  3. If possible, remove the battery (on models with removable batteries). If your model has an internal battery, ensure the laptop is completely off before proceeding.

Step 2: Remove the Bottom Cover

  1. Turn the laptop upside down and remove all visible screws from the bottom cover.

  2. Carefully use a plastic pry tool to separate the bottom panel from the chassis.

  3. Locate the battery connection and unplug it to prevent electrical damage.

Step 3: Remove the Damaged Screen

  1. Open the laptop and carefully position the screen so it lies flat.

  2. Using a pry tool, gently separate the screen from the bezel (it is held with adhesive and clips).

  3. Locate the screen connector ribbon cable and carefully unplug it.

  4. Remove any securing screws holding the screen in place.

  5. Gently lift the damaged screen out and set it aside.

Step 4: Install the New Screen

  1. Position the new digitizer and frame carefully into place.

  2. Reconnect the screen ribbon cable securely.

  3. Secure the new screen using the appropriate screws.

  4. Press the frame into place, ensuring it clicks in properly.

Step 5: Reassemble and Test

  1. Reconnect the battery if previously unplugged.

  2. Reattach the bottom cover and secure it with screws.

  3. Power on your laptop and test the screen’s functionality.
