Replacing a Sony Vaio VPCZ1 screen

Step one
Before beginning your repair, unplug your laptop from the mains power and rmeove the battery. You should also pause to make sure that you have disconnected any, (and all,) peripheral device,s (such as memory sticks and/or speakers.) Next, remove all of the screws found on the bottom of the laptop and, set them aside safely.
Step two
Turn the laptop over and use your fingers or a flat edged implement, (a guitar plectrum or a debit card,) to ease the keyboard out of the laptop. Note: the keyboard is attached to the body of the laptop by a cable which you'll need to detach.
Step three
Remove the hinges from the screen by unscrewing the screws holding them in place. You should see cables running beneath the hinges, from the body of the laptop to the screen. Make sure that these cables aren't damaged during the screen replacement process. Having exposed the bottom of the plastics surrounding ht broken screen, you should see six screws, (three on each side,) holding it in place. Unscrew the two screws which you are able to access easily and, loosen the remaining four.
Step four
Pull the broken Sony Vaio VPCZ1 screen towards you, (making sure you don't detach the camera, or any other loose parts, at the bottom of the display.) On the back of the broken screen you should see a cable attached to a gold connector. Disconnect this cable.
Step five
You should now be able to exchange your old screen for a newly bought replacement. To complete your repair, al you need to do is complete the instructions, (as outlined above,) in reverse.
