Dell Latitude E5420 screen replacement
Though a source of great frustration, a broken Dell Latitude E5420 need not be a cause for concern. Replacing a Dell Latitude E5420 screen
Step one
Firstly, remove the battery from your laptop, unplug your machine fro them mains power and, disconnect any, (and all,) external devices, (such as speakers and/or memory sticks.) Next, slide the gry button, on the top of the screen,) to the right. Once you've done that, use your fingers or a flat edged implement, (a guitar plectrum or razor,) to ease the front bezel away from the laptop. Carefully work your way around each side of the front bezel, loosening it as you go. When you are sure that you have sufficiently loosened the front bezel, lift it free form the laptop and, set it aside safely.
Step two
Unscrew all of the screws, (eight in total,) used to hold the broken Dell Latitude E5420 screen in place.
Step three
Take hold of the top of the broken screen and pull it towards oyu, laying it to rest, face down, on the laptop keyboard. At the very bottom, (and back) of the screen, you should see a thick cable sitting in a gold connector. Disconnect this cable, (peeling back any adhesive to access it, if necessary.)
Step four
Remove the broken screen from your laptop. To replace your old screen with a newly bought replacement, follow the instructions, outlined above, in reverse order.
