Replacing an Asus Memo Pad touchscreen
Though not the easiest of tasks, armed with the correct knowledge and the right tools, you should be able to replace your broken Asus Memo Pad touchscreen yourself. What's more, in replacing your broken touchscreen yourself, you could save money, (that would otherwise be spent on costly repairs,) and time.
How to replace an Asus Memo Pad touchscreen
Step one
Before beginning your repair, turn off your tablet, unplug the machine from the mains power and remove the SIM and SD cards. It is also a good idea, (before starting any repair,) to back up your data. Next, use a flat edged implement, (an opening tool, guitar plectrum or razor,) to prise the back of the tablet away from the screen casing.
Step two
Having successfully removed the back casing, unscrew all of the screws, (fourteen in total,) holding the device together.
Step three
You should also see a number of cables, (twelve in total,) that you'll need to detach, (peeling back any strips of adhesive or pieces of plastic, if necessary.)
Step four
Remove the camera, (and the motherboard,) from the device.
Step five
Remove the battery, (with the motherboard attached,) from the back of the device.
Step six
Turn the device back around and use a heat gun or a hairdryer to apply heat to the front display, (and bezel,) so as to loosen the adhesive holding it in place. Take care when applying heat, to avoid damaging any components. Once you've loosened the adhesive, use an opening tool, (or a flat edged implement; a razor or plectrum,) to prise the broken touchscreen away from the rest of the machine.
Step seven
Use a flat edged implement to prise the touchscreen away from the screen.
Step eight
Take the frame, (and the body of the device,) used to hold the touchscreen, (and the screen,) in place. Next,apply strips of adhesive to each side of the bezel. Once you've done that, clean the screen ad place it in the frame. Next, unwrap your newly bought Asus Memo Pad touchscreen and stick it to the adhesive.
Step nine
To complete your repair, follow the rest of the instructions, (as outlined above,) in reverse.
