Replacing the screen in a HP dv7 laptop
Though, at first, you may feel daunted by the task, laptop screen replacement is, in face, surprisingly simple. In replacing your broken screen yourself you could also save valuable time and money. Below, you'll find easy to follow instructions that will help guide you through the HP dv7 screen replacement process.
How to replace a HP dv7 screen
Step one
Firstly, turn off your laptop and remove the battery. Next, unplug your laptop and disconnect any, (and all,) peripheral devices, (eg, speakers.) Once you've done that, use a flat edged implement, (a razor or debit card,) and/or your fingers to prise the aesthetic covers, (located in the bottom two corners,) off of the front bezel. Unscrew the screws hidden underneath these covers and, safely set them aside.
Step two
Prise the front bezel away from the rest of the screen casing. As you work your way around each edge of the front bezel, (releasing it from the laptop,) you should hear it click out of place.
Step three
Disconnect the thin cable at the top of the exposed screen that runs towards the web camera. Next, disconnect the thin cable that runs into the right hand side of the inverter.
Step four
Remove all of the screws, (eight in total; three in each bottom corner, two in each top corner,) used to hold the broken screen in place. On removing the last screw, gently take hold of the top of the broken screen and, pull it towards you, laying it to rest, face down, on the keyboard in front. On the back of the screen, you should see a pair of cables attached, (one thick, one thin.) Disconnect each of these cables, (peeling back any adhesive,if necessary.)
Step five
Remove all of the screw, (eight in total; four on each side,) found on the sides of the damaged display. Then, lift the broken screen free from your laptop. To fit your replacement HP dv7 screen, all you need to do is complete the instructions above in reverse order.
